Unlike his predecessor, Lenin, Stalin has not made a name for himself as a great orator (if anything, he has left us with the impression of a man of carefully planned actions, not words). However, the extreme circumstances in which the USSR found itself in the course of its titanic struggle against the Third Reich, forced him to make his presence more apparent to the Soviet people. The 19 speeches included in this book were delivered in the period July 3, 1941, to May 9, 1945 and demonstrate his efforts to raise the morale of the Soviet people and the Red Army in times of grave danger, though in a manner not far removed from known methods of Soviet propaganda!
